ONLINE PLATFORM FOR NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP ON CURRICULUM REFORMS AND ECONOMICS EDUCATION



The national level workshop on Curriculum Reforms and Economics Education: Issues and challenges organized by Kerala Economic Association (KEA) on 27th July 2023 at 10 am on hybrid mode at Gulati institute finance and taxation (GIFT), Thiruvanthapuram. KEA wants to present a multidisciplinary curriculum of four-year degree program to be implemented in the state from next year. Prominent economist Prof. M.A Omen inaugurated. Prof. Surajith Masumdar delivered the keynote address. The Curriculum Reforms and Economic Education workshop was a highly attended event, with  scholars, researchers, and students participating. The workshop aimed to explore new ideas and insights on how to improve economic education in kerala. Over the course of the workshop, participants discussed a range of topics, including the issues and challenges facing economic education today and potential solutions for improving curriculum reforms. Prof.M.A. Omen introduced three books that are excellent resources for economics studies. These books are Macro Economics: An Introduction by Dr. Alex M. Thomas, Good Economics For Hard Times by Abijith Banerji, and After Piketty. Each book offers a unique perspective on economics and provides valuable insights for students and professionals alike. Gift director prof K.J Joseph presented the paper and Azim premji university Dr. Alex m thomas presented the paper on the topic Economic Education In India. Overall, the workshop was a great success and is expected to kick-start a series of discussions on curriculum reforms in economics education in Kerala.
