3 Day Capacity Building workshop on Research Methodology



REPORT Report on Three-day Capacity Building Programme on Research Methodology and Academic Writing 07 – 09 December 2023 Organised by Postgraduate Department of Commerce, Sree Sankara College, Kalady Sponsored by DSS, Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam Day 1 On day 1, (07/12/2023), the inaugural ceremony of the three-day capacity-building program on research methodology and academic writing commenced with a prayer. Mrs. S. Gowri Antherjanam, HOD Department of Commerce, formally welcomed the dignitaries present on the stage. Presidential address rendered by Dr. Preeethi Nair, Principal, Sree Sankara College. For the inaugural address Sri. Abraham K Samuel, The Director - DSS, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam was invited. He described the functions and the significance of the seminar and also the various services offered by DSS for students under college affiliated by Mahatma Gandhi University. At the end of the inaugural ceremony, Dr. A.S Sujith, the Co-ordinator of DSS, Sree Sankara College, offered a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, teachers, and students. After the inaugural ceremony first-day session was taken by Dr. Nimitha Aboobaker, professor, at the School of Management Studies, CUSAT. Dr. Nimitha Aboobaker provided the class on various aspects of research, the process of research, and the various ways one can come up with the topics. Different types of research tools can be utilized for a smooth research process. At the end of the session, a vote of thanks was given Mr.Ajay Pradeep, Assistant Professor, Sree Sankara College, Kalady Day 2 On 2nd day (08/12/2023) the resource person was Dr.Jasimudeen, UGC Librarian, at St Stephen’s College,Uzhavoor. Mrs. Sharanya Prathapan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, formally welcomed the Resource Person. Sri. Jasimudeen started the session with the basics of writing and went on, to the different types of websites used for research, different types of websites for books and resources etc. At the end the vote of thanks was given by Miss Aswathy, First Year PG Student. On the last and 3rd day of the seminar (09/12/2023), Dr Tejil Thomas Assistant Professor of Research and PG Department of Commerce St Thomas College, Pala Mrs. Abisha J, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, formally welcomed the Resource Person. Dr. Tejil Thomas, Assistant Professor, St. Thomas College, Pala started his sessions by stating the basics of Research and research methodology, data analysis, and introducing the software named Jamovi, which is very beneficial for data analysis, and different types of methods that will help understand the appropriate tool. At the end vote of thanks was given by Mr Ajay Pradeep, Assistant Professor, Sree Sankara College, Kalady
