Research Policy

Research and Development is an inevitable regime without which no institution can sustain and survive. Research and development is an indication of a growing society. Sree Sankara College acknowledges this fact and is keen on promoting research activities for its teaching staff and also promotes inculcating of research aptitude in students. With this objective, the college has established a research council including all approved research guides of the college.

Statement of Research Policy

Sree Sankara College is keen on promoting teaching, learning, research and innovation activities among all faculties and research scholars of the college involved in research. The outcome of such research should be appropriately disseminated for sustainable development at national and international levels. This policy provides a set of guidelines for the conduct of research at various levels of research.

Research Council

To monitor research activities of the college, a Research Council is functioning with the following objectives:

Objectives

  • Establish a policy framework for the administration, encouragement, and advancement of research at the college.
  • Create a supportive environment for entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Improve research output, collaborations, and capabilities
  • Offer a plan for achieving the research objectives by encouraging interdisciplinary study.

Composition

  • The Co-ordination of Research will be by the Research Council headed by Principal, who is the Head of Research Centre.
  • The Research Council will have a Convenor, Secretary and Members (all research guides of the college registered in the research centres).
  • The Principal has overall responsibility to oversee and monitor research affairs and is responsible for the implementation of the research policy, conduct of course work and approach the research advisory council of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam on research related matters.

Responsibilities of the Council

  1. Promote scientific temper and research culture among teachers and students.
  2. The research council is responsible for implementing time to time decisions of research advisory council of Mahatma Gandhi University for the conduct of course work and its examination every year.
  3. Conduct of half yearly presentation before the research advisory in order to monitor the work progress of the research scholars.
  4. Encourage students with state and national level fellowship to register for doctoral programme, ensure the timely disbursement of their fellowship and monitor progress report submission.
  5. Encourage advancement of research Infrastructure facility by encouraging faculties to avail Governmental funded (both State and Centre) programmes thereby upgrading the Postgraduate departments to recognised Research Centres. 
  6. Provide remote access of library facility to research guides and scholars and facilitate research scholars with research ethics and methodology webinars.
  7. Encourage all eligible faculty members obtain research guideship from Mahatma Gandhi University in their respective disciplines.   
  8. Encourage all faculty members without doctoral degree, for doctoral research.
  9. Provide facilities and inform faculties about the extramural funded research programmes.
  10. Provide guidance to faculties and research students for research or seminar proposals submission, implementing, conduct and completion.
  11. Encourage the faculties, research scholars and postgraduate students to participate and present research findings in National/International seminars and conferences.
  12. Encourage faculty to attend orientation/refresher/FDP/short- term training/exchange programmes.
  13. Facilitate the faculty members for national/international recognition in research.
  14. Encourage the faculty in establishing collaborations and linkages with esteemed national and international institutions and industries.
  15.  Provide the guidance, and legal support required for submitting patent applications.
  16. Promote research activities that are funded by governmental as well as non-governmental institutions.
  17. Keeping track of the publications and patents coming out of the institute.
  18. Compile data on all the research work/projects undertaken by the teachers and students into a database for easy monitoring and analysis of the progress being made by them regularly
  19. Foster socially relevant research and promote multidisciplinary research.
  20. Organise workshops on Research Methodology, IPR, Research report writing, etc.
